The latest Ford Territory showcases the brand’s ‘Progressive Energy in Strength’ design philosophy. It marries heritage with contemporary innovation to appeal to the South African market and perfect for Mpumalanga conditions.
Beancka McGee, the Group Sales Manager at McGee Ford based in Mpumalanga, discussed the exciting new features and design elements of the beautiful new Ford Territory.
“Ford’s goal with the new Territory was to craft a vehicle that exudes energy and strength,” McGee explains. “We needed them to ensure exceptional space and comfort. The design is commanding, agile, and responsive, creating a confident presence on the road.”
A defining feature of the New Ford Territory SUV that makes is perfect for Mpumalanga is its strong, full-width signature frontal graphics. Combined with a robust stance, it delivers a confident visual appeal. “From the front to the back, a prominent shoulder line enhances the vehicle’s power and progressive energy,” McGee notes. “Innovative LED lighting technology for the headlamps and 3D taillights highlights the modern advancements in our latest models.”
The Territory’s front-end is characterized by an integrated grille and distinctive LED daytime running lights. This forms a signature light effect. Coupled with strong corners featuring integrated main lamps, it underscores the vehicle’s readiness and stability.
From the side, the Territory presents an athletic and expressive silhouette. “The sculpted body side, sharp crease under the beltline, and powerful rear haunch create a dynamic aesthetic and sense of agility,” McGee adds. The range includes attractive alloy wheels, with 18-inch versions on the Ambiente and Trend derivatives, and 19-inch rims on the range-topping Titanium.
A panoramic moonroof, standard on the Titanium model, enhances the streamlined profile. Seven exterior colour choices, from Star White Tri-coat to Crystal Pearl White Metallic Tri-coat, allow buyers to personalize their Territory.
Interior Craftsmanship and Advanced Technologies
Ford’s designers have created a spacious and luxurious cabin where technology is seamlessly integrated. “Our designers aimed for an interior that feels spacious, luxurious, and smart,” says McGee. “The coast-to-coast design of the instrument panel, high-tech digital instrument cluster, and roomy interior with soft-touch materials achieve this.”
The Titanium model features a panoramic display with a 12.3-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster. The Ambiente and Trend come with a seven-inch TFT cluster with primary analogue gauges. All models boast a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment touchscreen. It can be operated by finger touch or a rotary controller on the centre console, streamlining the cabin’s controls.
“The interior is dominated by strong horizontal lines, enhancing the sense of openness,” McGee highlights. “Soft-wrapped inserts, high-quality finishes, and a layered design contribute to a modern, warm environment.”
The double-deck console design includes wireless phone charging on the Trend and Titanium models. It also offers ample storage space for various items, with 20 different storage spaces inside the Territory. The spacious boot offers 448 litres of storage space. This can be expanded to 1,422 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
On the luxurious Titanium model, a powered twin-panel Panoramic Moonroof floods the cabin with natural light. This enhances the sense of space and freedom. Multi-colour LED ambient lighting allows occupants to set their preferred colour theme.
“The Ambiente features dark Domino fabric trim for the seats, while the Trend offers high-quality Domino vinyl trim,” McGee elaborates.
“The Titanium stands out with a striking two-tone Peacock Blue and Domino full leather trim, reinforcing its sophisticated and upmarket appeal.”
Beancka’s insights underscore Ford’s commitment to combining stylish design with advanced technology. This ensures the new Ford Territory stands out in the competitive South African market.
